General Purpose
Work closely with the Aquatic Manager to coordinate and manage maintenance, and services of the aquatics components of the Moab Recreation and Aquatics Center, including, coordinating, and maintaining the building and special departmental equipment, supplies, and operations.
Reporting Relationships
Supervision Received: The Aquatic Maintenance Tech works under the direct supervision of the Aquatic Manager.
Supervision Exercised: N/A
Essential Functions
- Must have general knowledge and understanding of all Moab Recreation and Aquatic Center (MRAC) building operation and maintenance. Including but not limited to the building general electrical, mechanical, plumbing operations, boiler and HVAC equipment, roof top units, water heaters, water heat exchangers, actuators, control panels.
- Performs maintenance and custodial duties.
- Cleans pools and decks.
- Monitors water temperatures and chemical balances.
- Makes minor equipment adjustments to assure proper temperature and chemical standards.
- Assists as needed with facilities operation.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma, and
- Two (2) years of aquatic experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with other employees and the public.
- Working knowledge of swimming pool filters, mechanical systems, and the use of chemicals for swimming pool and water chemistry.
Special Qualifications (Licenses, Certifications, etc.)
- Must be a (State Approved) Certified Pool Operator (CPO).
- Must be American Red Cross Certified in first aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
- Must be able to understand, interpret, and follow Utah State Codes:
- R392. Health, Disease Control and Prevention, Environmental Services.
- R392-302. Design, Construction and Operation of Public Pools.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
The Aquatic Maintenance Tech position is a physically active position. Tasks may entail muscular strain, including walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting. Talking, hearing, and seeing are essential to performing job requirements. Common eye, hand and finger dexterity is required for most essential functions.
